Men!?!?
Does anyone ever understand men? William and I agreed we would downsize ALOT while we were clearing out and redoing the house in Fayetteville. Well he had a box of old army papers, maps and books from years ago that had lots of water damage due to the roof leak. I sorted and kept a couple books but the rest were damaged so off to the dump with them... good right? WRONG! He is now upset because I threw away survival books..... If he doesn't know how to survive by now its too late anyway! Its a good thing he is on the road and I am here. Maybe by the time he gets home he will have cooled down. In my book you can't downsize if you want to hang on to everything no matter what shape its in. From now on I am putting his stuff in the back of the storage building and when he gets down there he can sort and figure out what to do with it.... it just won't come back inside! Smells like wet moldy books... yuk. If you have a book or hints on how to understand a man please pass it on....... Thanks

Why
Why when its summer with hot humid weather do I have to have a cold??? I have been sneezing, coughing and blowing my nose for 3 days and everyone looks at me like I have came from another planet. I feel terrible but think it is finally starting to break up. At least working outside in the heat has helped me sweat out a lot of it. Have gotten a lot done the past few days but have to head back to Lexington tomorrow. One of Williams family reunions is Sunday and his daughter and her family are staying with us for a few days. I have to get back to fix food and clean house. Does anyone know how to clone???? I need another me for the next few months. At least I won't be in Fayetteville while Bush is here Tuesday. They can have that traffic jam without me. I am going to miss having DSL. I only have dialup in Lexington so the highspeed internet has me spoiled. Megan is cleaning up a flooded basement and in a bad mood. Maggie is picking up Kristine from her dads and excited about having her back home after being gone 2 weeks. Raigun says she has tried and tried but she just can't seem to fly. This was after spending time running around the yard flapping her arms. Maggie has a surprise for Raigun for her birthday. She has a friend with the warbirds that is going to take Raigun up in his plane. That will be one happy kid! Melody is busy remodeling her house and they just finished redoing their camper. They have been on a few camping trips to break it in. Brian will get to come home for 2 weeks around July 15th or 18th. Megan was hoping he would be here for her birthday but at least he is getting to come home for a few days. Then back to Iraq to finish his tour and he will be home for good! William is on his way to Kentucky and then home for a night before heading for New York. He is on the road making money and I am spending it on the house in Fayetteville... Guess that is a fair trade. Everyone have a great weekend!

A New Great Friend
I have just had a wonderful visit from my friend Sheri and family. She and I met last year on a homestead forum online. She has a homestead in Texas and raises goats, horses, chickens etc. She also makes goatmilk candles and soaps and designs and makes beautiful jewelry that she sells besides working for a vet and taking care of the homestead. She and hubby and son Alex live in a old home that she redid allover before she met and married Ward. She is very much into the homestead way of life and I have learnt alot from her. IN her spare time she writes articles about homesteading and has them published. From the moment she met me I felt like I had known her all my life. It was so easy to talk with her. I have a new friend for life in Sheri...... aren't friends a blessing????!!!

Fayetteville, NC For Now
Well, from a cabin in Minnesota to a cabin in Illinois to a trailer in Tennessee, we are now going to stay in Fayetteville for a while. William bought a house there when he was stationed at Ft. Bragg in the 70's. We lived there for 2 yrs when we first married but moved to Lexington. The house has set empty and after hurricanes last year has had major roof damage and inside water damage. We are going to repair and remodel the whole house and that will take at least a year. After that we aren't sure if we will go to TN fulltime or just have a getaway there for us and family. William doesn't want to sell the house in Fayetteville and its in a perfect location. The house is at the end of a long dirt lane and sits among a grove of big old oak trees. It is away from everyone yet you have nice neighbors near. Its out in the country yet close to shopping centers. There is woods all around and lots of garden spots and places for goats and chickens. Plenty of room for the dogs and cats. So that is where we will be for now. I will post pictures and updates on all the work we are doing. We are going to eventually put the house on solar and it already has a great well with lots of good water. The grandkids already love going there and having all that space to play, run and ride bikes. I have been so busy running to Fayetteville and here in Lexington that I didn't have time to post on my old blog so shut it down. Now that we know where we will be and what we will be doing for at least the next year I will try to keep this new blog up to date. I will from time to time call in my blogs and you can click on the audioblog and hear me talk about that days adventure........ Hope you drop by often!
