My one hen that laid colour eggs was very ordinary looking and small. The eggs I thought were pale green, not blue. In the spirit of an old chemistry teacher I had, "the colour is the colour I say it is". They were pale blue.Tossing Pebbles in the Streamhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04354065895900279070noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13772881.post-83049827695003170712007-03-04T19:42:00.000-05:002007-03-04T19:42:00.000-05:00As I understand it, the Araucana chickens have che...As I understand it, the Araucana chickens have cheek tufts and are "rumpless" - don't have a tail. The Ameraucanas are related, but may or may not have cheek tufts, and have an ordinary chicken tail. Both breeds are wonderfully colorful, and my Ameraucanas are not only nice (that is, they don't overtly pick on any of the other chickens, that I've seen, and they don't mind if I pick them up and hold them) but they are among my most consistent layers. Mine lay green eggs, and I would have more Araucanas or Ameraucanas in a heartbeat.
