This blog is a journal of the simple living on a small 2 and a half acre farm. The ups and downs. The good and the not so good. Adventures of Hidden Haven animals and some of my own. The sharing of our frugal, hardworking, attempt to be as self sufficient as possible. Please stop by often as we love company!

When the grandkids and I were outside their last day here a redheaded woodpecker flew up and sat in a tree and started making noises like it was talking to us. I told the kids about the woodpecker that came to mothers house after she died and I thought it was her helping me make decisions about closing her house. So they said hi to "nannie" and we went to the front yard. The woodpecker flew to the front yard and sat in a small dogwood watching us and "talking". When I took its picture it flew right over the kids head and went back into the woods. I think mother just came to visit her great grandchildren.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog and for the prayers for my nephew. They are greatly appreciated, we are leaveing it all in Gods capable hands. God bless you and thank you again.
It is a pileated woodpecker, one of the most dramatic birds in the forest. There could be no better vessel for your mother's spirit. Your sensitivity to Nature is very much like Native Spirituality.
We have pileated woodpeckers here, too. What an awesome sight! Such a majestic bird.
Paggy thatnks for the info regarding my long-lost stocking. I'll give customs a call come Monday morning. Thanks for all your effort, much appreciated!
Hi Peggy! I loved the story to your grandchildren. I lost my very dear friend Mary a year ago and everytime I see a Lady Bug I tell my daughter Mary is coming to check on us! Thanks for all your help on my Blog problems! I think I finally have the new one up and running: (http://vintagememoriesofmine.blogspot.com/
Have a great day! Hugs, Sher
