This blog is a journal of the simple living on a small 2 and a half acre farm. The ups and downs. The good and the not so good. Adventures of Hidden Haven animals and some of my own. The sharing of our frugal, hardworking, attempt to be as self sufficient as possible. Please stop by often as we love company!

Momma Hen is Home with the Babies!
Finally made it home with the chicks and we have 54! One was dead upon arrival and one died soon after but the rest are healthy and doing great. William fixed a BIG box for them with sand in the bottom and 2 heat lamps so they are running around eating and drinking and I am having fun petting them. Dimples runs from the noise and Whiskers thinks I have brought a snack home for him. Don't worry we have cat proofed the box. Here are some photos of a few of the babies that would stand still. Will take better ones tomorrow after we have all had a rest.

Awww, they are sooo cute! Glad you all got home safe and sound :)
Too cute. I wish I didn't live in city limits so I could have some chickens! Keep us posted on your chicken adventure!
Awww, how sweet are these little chickies? I want some of my own! I've been trying to convince BJ that we should get another chookpen (we had one at our old house) but it isn't working, as he remembers doing most of the cleaning and feeding last time, hehe. Hope you are having fun with these little fellas!
Cute pictures of cute chicks.... when my kids were little, we got one, just one at Easter time...we called him Donald....so original don't you think....LOL
54 !!!! of my goodness, they will keep you in eggs for - ever !!
It is fun to grow different plants in together. You might consider some companion planting (plants that do well together). You might even try a couple of mounds of the three sisters (corn, beans and squash) as our native ancestors taught us.)
