Try Being a Light

God's children shine with his light in a world where others are in darkness. So think of some of the things a light does.
*Light is silent. No noise, No bulldozing, No banners---- light simply shines. Its like a lighthouse along the shore. All it does is shine as it turns.
*Light gives direction. No words, no sermon. Jesus says that others "see" our actions-- but nothing is said of their hearing.
* Light attracts attention. You don't have to ask people to look at you when you turn on a light in a dark room. It happens automatically. You are a light in the darkness,a child of God who is being watched, who gives off a very distinct message... Without saying a word. Let the light shine. Don't attempt to show off how bright and sparkling you are, just let it shine.
I borrowed some of the above from Charles Swindoll. My point is its time to stop saying others are wrong, others are this or that. Its time to stop, look at ourselves and let our light shine. Its time to stop being a bulldozer pushing others to our way. Its time to stop and love our neighbor. Its time to forgive and forget the hurtful things that have been said. Its time for each of us to let our light shine so others can see the good in our faith and in our hearts.

I will delete all comments and emails that say anything negative about anyone else. If you have a problem with the way someone else believes then get on your knees. Do not tell me about it.

I've often been told that my life may be the only Bible anyone ever reads. That has always encouraged me to watch the way I live my life. I want it to shine for Christ. Great post, Peggy!

I'm getting on my knees right now. Prayer works wonders especially when it concerns others.

As my friend Lazy Daisy would say, "Preach on sister"...I am on your side and I believe exactly like you and have for many, many years now and plan to always believe that way. I try to be a light in my surroundings. Great post..Sandy

I think it was the Newsboys that had a song out called "Shine", and
and I can remember my daughter Lori had a Bible Class with K through 5 children, and she got little fiber optic candles for each of them, and the large movie screen above had pictures of each child, and all the children paraded around the church, inside, with the only lights were their fiber optic candles.....I had tears rolling down my face....it was so moving.......it was so innocent.......your post was wonderful......and I agree, if you can't say anything good, then you shouldn't say anything at all... We are all Gods Children....some Good, and Some Bad.....

I forgot to mention that when the children paraded around the church with their f/O candles the music of the Newboys "Shine" was playing....

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven. Matthew 5:14-16

Hear hear Peggy. We need to throw the first stone at ourselves before casting one at others.

May all our lights shine.

Oh Peggy, Thank you so very much. I have been distressed for days now about such things when I should have been thinking about my Pop. I have forgiven and forgotten and asked that of those who I should ask it. Thank you Peggy xox
