Thieves!

These innocent looking boys are thieves I tell you! I thought I was being smart by getting up super early and taking them by surprise. I was able to get Diva's milk for a few mornings but the little fellows are smarter than the average Nubian. They listen for the sound of the milk bucket. You can go out anytime you want and if they don't see or hear the milk bucket they just stand at the fence looking at you all nice and innocent. But if you happen to make a noise with the bucket or let them see you carrying it then they knock down and stomp anything in their way to get to Diva before I do.
They will be 3 months old the 21st so their nursing days are numbered. I just have to be patient and then all the milk will be mine!!

On a different note, homemakerang is working rings around me with all her canning, freezing, and pickling. This wouldn't be so bad but she is pregnant and homeschooling, gardening while doing all this too! I can't wait to read about her checkbook going in the drop box at the library. I just love Sophie's birthday pictures but the video of her sleeping noises really cracked me up. I just love Peggy's post about aprons. My blog friends and neighbors are really busy these days but I am sure enjoying reading whats going on in their part of the neighborhood.

I love this story! I love it when animals "one up" the humans! They are also just plain sweet.

What do you do with the milk?

I would so have those boys weaned by now! Big old boys!

Actually, Bridey is still nursing...at 7 months. She's going to still be on the teat when she goes to college at this rate. But, I got tired of milking every day and this is a good way to keep Pearlie in milk. Sigh. But it needs to happen soon or Bridey is going to have a complex.

Count yourself lucky they leave you any milk at all. Animals are smart because we are "Oh, so predicable" in our routines.

I love the personality of goats. I think it is funny that you try to sneak one up on them and they get you. Silly boys....
