My mother's sister sent me some newspaper clippings my mother had sent her through the years. Mother loved saving anything that mentioned anything about family or friends or even friends of friends! I am enjoying going through the clippings. This is one about my dad's mother, my grandma. This was written in 1984. She lived 3 more years, dying a couple of days before her 103rd birthday. Her secret to living so long? A beer a day and a little pinch of snuff! This is from The Franklin Press in Franklin, NC.

Good morning Peggy, My dad's mom lived to the age of 100..I can't imagine living another 35 years to 100.My skin is old and saggy now....Thanks for sharing. Baba
I don't like beer or snuff!!!
What a treasure to have sent to you. Just think she experienced 103 years of history. I bet she was fun to talk to about her younger days...
Take care and hugs,
Connie
Good beer drinking, snuff taking women are hard to find! She sounds like an interesting mountain woman.
Do you animals know you come from such hardy stock. You will be there for them for years to come.
What fun it must be reading all those clippings! That's such a special one about your grandma...imagine living that long! I don't like beer at all so I'm in trouble! lol xox
What a great treasure.
I love it!! A beer a day! My grandma liked the heavier stuff--whiskey. Her little Texas town was dry and so she would take a big ol' suitcase on the bus to the next town over and buy her "tonic." Then she would lug the thing back home. Lordy. She lived to be over 95! Hmmm, maybe they have something there Ms. Peg, ya think?
