Card Shower For Ms. Fran

Terri had a great ideal regarding my neighbor Ms. Fran. She suggested a card shower. I think this would be a great ideal as it would give her a reason to walk to her mailbox and something to look forward to. She loves mail so this is perfect, thanks Terri! Fran has no ideal what a blog is as she has never nor does she ever want to look at a computer (I tried). So if you want to join in on the card shower and want to mention how or why you are sending her a card just say you are a friend of mine. Or say you heard through the grapevine she enjoyed getting mail. Her address is: Mrs. Fran Irving, 153 Lewis Lane, Fayetteville, NC 28304. Please remember she is a 80 year old lady and keep it nice. I will keep you up todate on how it goes as I know she is going to get that sparkle back in her eye because of you guys!

Hi Peggy, When I get back home I'm going to make Fran a card. I would make her one right now but I didn't bring any of my scrapping supplies with me. LOL

Did you get my PM over at Etsy? I want a blueberry & Cream bar. Do you have any more to list? Please let me know and thanks. :o)

I'm in! I have the perfect postcard from here... funny how things work - one of my 'challenges' this week was to send postcards to 5 people.. and only 4 said they wanted one... so here is the last one for Fran. In the mail tomorrow.
Peggy - you are an angel, you truly are! xox

I homeschool and I think that sending your neighbor cards would be a great idea for my girls, ages nine and eleven. By the way, I am in Spring Lake, NC. So we are pretty close!

Lovely - I'll mail her one too!
Sorry I've not been in touch for a while - just too much going on!

Oh Peggy - if I'd had my thinking cap on I would have planned a visit to you this weekend - and now you tell me I would have been able to get delicious fresh eggs AND goat cheese - I'm all sad and kicking myself! Next time we take a little road trip in your direction I'll definitely let you know.
I actually did think about you as we entered the 82nd Airborne Museum - but didn't have your address or number with me to get in touch. We stopped there on our way to Dillon, SC where we were staying for the wedding - reception was back over the line in Fairmont, NC. My gosh, what a fabulous museum - we spent a good 2 hrs. in there and thoroughly enjoyed it, especially the WW2 section as it showed a lot of my area of southern England. Both my parents were in the Royal Air Force during WW2 - our town was bombed as we were near one of Britain's main naval bases.

I'm off to England next Monday so will miss reading all the great blogs. Will catch up with you late Oct. when I return.
Take care ~ Mary.

Very sweet idea, Peggy.

Yes, I'm sort of sick about it too. But I'm hopeful I'll be able to find another place with a barn...that's been the problem here...I ran out of money before getting the barn built. And really, it's just nuts what property is going for here, so I'll be able to make enough profit by flipping it to afford something comparable.

Hi! I love your idea about getting people to send a card to your neighbor! That really is a GREAT idea! My Mom always loved getting her mail too! I have a card all ready to send to her - I will put it in the mail as soon as I can get to town (we are on vacation in our trailer and so we don't have a mailbox). Patty

I am glad that you liked this idea! I have organized card showers like this for other elderly friends and they loved it too!

I can't wait to hear how she liked it!

I guess I will send her a card too. She should get a kick out of it as my real name is, Abraham Lincoln, and I am related to him. Honest.

Hi Peggy ~ it's been lovely popping in and catching up on some of your news.
I'm so sorry to hear about your neigbor Fran not feeling her best, and I would love to pop a card in the post for her, all the way from Tasmania.
It sounds like you have a busy week ahead and I hope you all have a wonderful time when your Family visit.
Take care, Kali :)

This is my first visit to your blog and it is very nice!

I think this is a lovely and thoughtful idea. And I'm not trying to be mean or anything but I have to say that I don't think I'd be too happy knowing that someone posted my name and address on the Internet. I also think it's kind of a dangerous thing to do. The elderly are vulnerable enough in this society and it's a crazy world we live in.

Just my .02.
