No Place Like Home

I had always dreamed of being free to roam the jungles. Climb trees, sunbathe, swim, well you get the ideal. I just thought life outside of a house or pen would be heaven. I was wrong! Early spring I got mad at mom for taking me inside at night. I loved being outside. Well I happen to find a loose board in the back of my outside house and I ran away. I knew right where I was heading. There is a nice swamp with lots of trees, water and flowers behind our property. I was on spring break big time! It was hot and humid (weather I love) so I decided to extend my spring break into summer vacation. I ate, drank, slept and just enjoyed relaxing. It was way cool getting to stay outside as long as I wanted. Not having mom taking me inside cause she thought the night air was too cool for me. After a few months I noticed the days were getting shorter. The nights were getting cooler and I missed my heating pad. I wanted to go home. I wanted my mommy! So I left my paradise and started home. I had been gone so long and got turned around so much I wasn't sure which way to go. I knew I needed to head north so I started walking. I ended up at a fence much like the one around my outside house. I thought I was home but it was the neighbors. Thank goodness he called my mom and she came to get me. She was sooooo excited. She thought she was never going to see me again. She told me she and dad had searched for me for days and she had been very sad when she couldn't find me. Mom brought me home and put me in my new outside house. Its really really big but I was just happy to sleep on my heating pad. I didn't even think about checking to see if I could get out. Right now I am pouting at mom. She has put me in my inside house. Its a nice house that is right next to the window so I can look outside all day while sitting on my heating pad. I can climb down my tree to walk around the bottom of my house but I like laying in the sun on my pad. I have always gotten mad when she brings me inside and not let her touch me for several weeks. This year I am not mad cause she brought me in but I don't want her to know so I am pouting at her just a little. Today I didn't smack my tail when she gave me fresh water and food. I even looked at her when she talked to me instead of turning my back. I did have a fun adventure but when all is said and done.. There is NO place like home ( and a good heating pad)!

I am so glad that Bud made it home. He looks no worse for the wear. I think it is funny that he is not near as mad at you than he normally is. =)

I'd sure hate to wake up and find him in my bed!!

Of course he has to pout! Don't all critters we have as pets have to do that from time to time?? :)

I'm sure glad he came home though.

LOL, well, now that I have heart back in its place instead of my throat! Bud's photo scared the daylights out of me :) (I'm such a scaredy cat about reptiles...sad, but true)...I'm glad your Bud is home again :)

and you have goats! I've been thinking long & hard about getting 2 goats...you probably already know this, but at the Biltmore, they have a Little Farm & they have goats! Angora goats & Nanny Goats (is that a breed?)...so I got to play with goats for a good long while on this past Saturday...love them love them love them...

and they have belgian draft horses there, chickens, sheep, little donkeys...oh, and 2 black snakes that hang out in the chicken house...shudddder...black snakes would be the reason I decided to not have chickens...

see? big baby...

anyhoo...I don't think I've been to Brevard...yet...but I've seen it on the atlas...and we did manage to go to 2 of the antique places nearby to the Biltmore...The Tobacco Barn (saw a huge old framed vintage print of cows...beautiful...and a new carved swan I wanted something fierce...but can't have everything) and Sweeten Creek Antiques (or something like that)...I can always find time to root around in antique shops :)

Ah Bud...it's probably good you had an adventure and learned that your home with mom is a pretty sweet life.

Bud is quite fearsome looking really. I guess he learnt his lesson though. I was surprised when you wrote that he was home, when he first came back.
