Kitchen Photos

The floor is finished. We still need to get our fridge, stove and wood cookstove but the kitchen is mostly finished. A new window and ceiling goes in after the holidays as I just couldn't handle those right now. It still needs a few touches here and there but its 99% complete and I can get ready for next weekends big family Christmas weekend. I am so loving the marble top on the island and the old cabinet where the appliances sit. William got the cabinet at a machine shop auction several years ago for a dollar. It was filthy and covered in grease. Our handyman cleaned ,sanded, put on new hardware and then sanded the butcher board top. He put several coats of mineral oil and several coats of food safe poly. I am going to be doing lots of baking tomorrow and enjoying every minute!

Oh my, Peggy, where do I begin??? Everything is just so homey and country and red...Right up my alley!! I love the red cabinets with the chicken wire, the island is wonderful with that little table attached, the old meat grinder collection, and that red gingham look is just eye-popping!
I know you're gonna really enjoy preparing your food in there now. It all looks so organized too!!
Enjoy!

Your kitchen looks great...love the new floors and that island is making me green with envy...well, I am not quite green as I am so glad you are enjoying that lovely piece. Things are looking good...girl...I know you are anxious to get it all done!

Thanks for sharing...and please tell Miss Fran I am thinking and praying for her...I think of her often...my mother had a stroke at 52 and again at 57...I know the process well...tell her to "keep her chin up"...determination will help...along with incredible friends such as yourself.

Blessings...
Teresa

Oh sis, I just LOVE it!! Can I go bake with you???? Now that's a kitchen that will be a pleasure to be in:-) Everything just goes so well together. I also love how you've displayed your old meat grinders...I have two of them, one that belonged to my parents back in the 1950's and one that belonged to my in laws back in the 1940's. Still praying for Ms Fran!! xoxo

Wow, Peggy! I'm so jealous of your kitchen. That marble is going to be great for doing pastry and candy. Are you going with an antique wood cook stove or a modern one? You can still find some lovely, functional antique ones here....if you can wrest them away from the families they've been passed down in. I've always wanted an Aga...I have fond memories of the kitchens in the UK that had them.

I was a bit afraid I'd be processing goose today after Max's little tantrum.
