Babies!

This morning I heard peeping and thought Sister had hatched her babies. They hadn't hatched but I could hear them through their shell. I went back later and Sister had pushed 2 eggs out from under her and they were cold. I could see where the chicks had started pecking out so I brought them inside. I got a warm blanket and put it on the floor in front of a small electric heater. Placed the eggs in the blanket and waited. About an hour later I saw beaks trying to peck out. I helped a little and then left them alone. Went back an hour later and they had pecked a little more but seemed weak and still a little cold. I broke enough of the shells away so they could get some heat on their body. Came back about 30 minutes later and this is what I saw

Aren't they adorable!! Sister is still sitting on the other eggs. Hope they hatch. I am going to keep these inside today so they can stay warm while their momma works on hatching their siblings.

On a different note. My daughter Melody is having surgery Monday. Her iron is so low they are going ahead and doing the hysterectomy but are waiting till Jan 6th to do anything about the lump in her breast. My son in law Brian's grandmother is in ICU with congestive heart failure. Please keep them in your prayers.

I will keep both Melody and Brian's grandmother in my prayers. I know this is a difficult time for you and your family and I pray for God to give you all strength.
The baby chicks are so cute!
Please keep us informed about your loved ones. God bless,

Hello, dear Peggy! Your precious little baby chicks are so very sweet!!! What an amazing experience to have helped them break out of their shells!! Why do you suppose the mother hen pushed them away from her? Did she think they didn't need her warmth any more? I would love to see more pictures of them.

Your dear daughter and your son-in-laws grandmother will certainly be in my prayers. Jan over at Jan and Tom's Place has a "Come to Jesus Tuesday" where you can post prayer requests every Tuesday.

You left a message on my blog earlier this morning offering me a collection of vintage patterns. I hardly know what to say! You are so very, very kind!! I would truly love to have them, but I don't think it would be right to just take them. You could sell them on eBay and make a bit of money from them. I would be very happy to pay you for them! I believe I know just where I could display them in my sewing room. If you would prefer to contact me privately about this, you are welcome to do so. My e-mail is LSGeorge@sbcglobal.net

Blessings to you, dear Peggy!

Peggy,

The chicks are adorable. I'm glad you were able to warm them up and give the chicks a chance to hatch.

I will pray for both your daughter and Brian's grandmother.

Blessings,
Mary

Peggy, that is something that you treated your daughters to a trip to Babyland General Hospital (the Cabbage Patch) and that their girls got to go to. What treasured memories you all have created. Thanks for sharing with me.

Peggy, what cute chickies. what an odd thing for momma to do. I wonder why she pushed the eggs out.
I can't imagine how hard this is to watch your child go through this. My sister got home tonight after being at Baylor for 1.5 weeks and 2 cancer surgeries...and had been home for 5 min when the pathologist called her to tell her they think they got it all.

After your daughter has the first surgery, her body will heal and she can fight against the other better.

My conversations with God have not been pretty lately. I am glad He has big shoulders but I just kept thinking when is enough enough?? He just keeps reminding me that this world is not what He intended for us. We were meant for so much more than this.

My thoughts and prayers for your family.

Tracy

Thoughts and prayers with you and your family. You have such a positive attitude, I hope that Melody will be able to maintain one as well. Know that many of us in the blogosphere (is that a real word?) will be rooting for her.

I wonder about the chicks - will the mother accept them when you put them back in with her? Precious little things they are.

I hate living in the suburbs. Your life seems so fulfilling - not to say mine is not, but I definately don't feel like we are where we should be - geographically speaking!

Sending hugs & good thoughts for your daughter, Melody.
My iron is too high. Isn't life strange. When I was young I had low iron. It is a mystery how our bodies work.

Oh, Peggy, I was so excited to read about your new baby chicks and see their sweet photo, but then so sad to read about your Melody. I will keep her in my thoughts - and you, too, of course.

She will so much better after she heals from her surgery. (Although, that does take a while.) I am sending lots of prayers both her way and your SIL GM. xoxo
