Crazy Geese

Most of the time Molene, Larry, Curly, Tom and Geraldine are nice geese, Larry will actually let you pet him. Most of the time... unless the girls are laying eggs. Yesterday when I went out to empty, clean and refill their pool I didn't have my camera with me. It would have been one of America's Funniest Video winners. I had to walk by the geese house to get to the pool. Larry didn't like my walking too close to his future babies and came after me. He grabbed my pants leg with his beak and would not let go! While his big wings are flapping, he is screaming like I am trying to kill him. He still has hold of my pants leg. I am walking around with a goose attached to my leg. I empty the pool, wash it out and leave the hose there to fill it up. I walk to the gate dragging a goose still attached to my leg and finally have to reach down and physically remove Larry from my leg. I go get my camera as I know I have to go back in and retrieve the hose. Wouldn't you know Larry doesn't even give me a second glance. He is busy taking a bath.

So I feed the crazy geese and will be sure and have the camera handy next pool cleaning day!

Hilarious - because I have had a goose or two come after me. I'm just glad I had jeans on both times. Yikes.
Crazy birds... :-P

Oh how funny, Peggy. It's too bad you didn't get that picture. He should be nice to you and know that you are the one who feeds him and takes care of him.

They say to take the camera everywhere we go. I still don't do that--but I am trying to remember.

Hugs,
Betsy

That is to funny. Im afraid it would be me doing the screaming if he had me. For some reason they have always intimidated me.

LOL - I wish you DID have pics of that! Poor thing, trying to protect his babies from the big bad human.

I have always considered geese dangerous ever since I had a boyhood chum who had a pet goose, large and aggressive. Canada geese in a public park can attack you if you are not careful.

Hi Peggy, my husband and grandson know about crazy geese..when my grandson was around 5 years old, they went to a lake to feed the ducks. While feeding the ducks, a bunch of geese flew around them and began to peck and bite their legs...so the bread was tossed on the ground and they got away quickly!! Thanks for sharing your story... Hugs, Baba

What a picture I saw in my mind of you dragging that goose around with you! Seems like he really wanted that nice clean water to get into!
