A Hot Weekend

We made a patio area over a week ago. This weekend we actually found time to enjoy it. It helped having friends from New York visiting for the weekend and a couple of neighborhood kids. William cooked breakfast and we took advantage of the not yet hot sunny morning and ate outside. Phill and Jonathan picked one of the hottest weekends to visit Hidden Haven. We sure enjoyed having them as we had help with planting tomatoes, watering, feeding and milking. They are going to be leaving the city life for homesteading this summer so while packing up they found some wonderful vintage and antique items they wanted to give us. It was like Christmas looking at each item and hearing the story behind it. William is in love with the big hour glass. He keeps timing it and is so proud to say its only a few seconds off. I love the antique tables and have been rearranging things to put them in the right spot. Thank you again Phill and Jonathan for giving us some of your precious items. You can come visit them anytime you want! LOL It has been so hot here we are having to water our gardens alot. We are having temps we usually have in the middle of summer. I hope it gets back to being spring soon. Kuma, Lady, Tramp and Sheba haven't had walks in a couple of days. Its just been too hot and they are more interested in finding a nice cool place to take a nap. I think I will be trimming their winter fur off very soon to give them a little relief. Rowdy's winter fur is almost all gone. It comes off easy when he is brushed. The goats are shedding their winter coat as well as the sheep. All the critters are getting ready for a long hot summer. I already miss winter. Have a very blessed week!

Peggy,

It was hot here today too...80 degrees F and 87 with the humidity. Too hot for April in southern Ontario.

Glad you were able to enjoy the patio and have breakfast with your friends there. It's nice they were able to lend you and William a hand.

Take care and have a great week.
Blessings,
Mary

For easier watering, you might think about drip irrigation hoses attached to a 5 gallon bucket.. All you have to do is make sure the bucket is full and occasionally check the drippers to make sure they are working right..

I love your patio. Looks like you all had a great time together. It's unseasonably hot here too. I've been watering early in the mornings to avoid the really hot sun. Give Rowdy a hug from me.

Up here in the mountains, we can't plant gardens until Memorial weekend, weather just too unpredictable. In the direct sun it was hot this past weekend here too. Hope it cools off for ya.

Oh shaddup with your hot weather! LOL Sis, you can send some of it down here, you know...it's only 37F here right now. I had slept with the window opened a bit last night and this morning I woke up frozen!

I so love your patio area, it looks so cozy and comfy. Wow, your friends from NY sure did bring you some wonderful antiques and I've no doubt you'll treasure them always. xoxo

Whoo! That was a hot weekend! A sweet one though. Thanks for everything Peggy and William - we had such a nice time, and it was so nice to get away from packing and the stress for a weekend! We're back here in the city packing and tossing and fretting about the move. LOL

Wow, that is a nice patio area and how fun! It is sunny today and breezy and I'm still wearing somewhere between winter and spring clothes but the snow it melted (ptl!). But, it is still early here for us to know if spring has arrived permanately or not. I have notice the deer losing their winter coats and a few robins around so that is a good sign.

Have a great day!

But what a wonderful way to deal with the heat, having beloved family to visit :) How wonderful to see you all together !

You know, you could always move this way. it does get hot but not as hot as often, and we do have snow :)

And ! I'll come help you move !! seriously !

I want to be warm, really! We are worried about our goatie babies out in the barn with the nights still in the 30's and the days in the 50's. Buds on the trees but the next 6 days are supposed to be rain. Boo Hoo. Send all the extra winter wool up here and we'll glue it to the goats..lol..or to us! miss seeing you guys. Alex
