This blog is a journal of the simple living on a small 2 and a half acre farm. The ups and downs. The good and the not so good. Adventures of Hidden Haven animals and some of my own. The sharing of our frugal, hardworking, attempt to be as self sufficient as possible. Please stop by often as we love company!

Last Night at Grandma's
The kids worked so hard all day helping me rake, stack wood, burn leaves, clean the tool shed so when they said they wanted to sleep in their cabin tonight and cook outdoors I agreed. ( also knew when it got cold they would be running back inside) They cooked soup over their fire, had sandwiches, chips and doughnuts. They sat around their fire and told ghost stories... Then were back in the house taking showers and watching movies by 8:30! Zack and Julie had been fussing with each other while here so I tied them together with a small rope by their wrists. I gave them enough rope to be able to move around but they had to stay tied all day long and if they argued or said something mean to the other I popped their behind. They worked well together raking and stacking and even talked nice to each other. I let them untie their selves at suppertime. Took them awhile to learn how to compromise when one wanted to go one way and the other didn't. Tomorrow we pack up and head them back to the mountains. Yes it is suppose to be winter here but its been so warm the kids have played outside with only teeshirts most days. Hopefully by the time I get back I will have DSL again. It takes about 5 minutes to download a picture on dial up and it drives me crazy!!!

Those gorgeous grandkids of yours will always look back with happy memories of the holidays they spent with you, Peggy. You are a fantastic grandmother, I only hope I can be the same when the time comes :)
Sounds like a most wonderful time.
Aww, I just tried to post a comment and it didn't work, so here's round two...
Looks like you are having a wonderful time with the kids and putting them to very good use! There's nothing like a set of helpers to get things tidied up around the house. And I bet they are having an absolute ball helping you out. There is nothing like an open fire to fuel the imagination of children - what fun! I love your disciplinary methods too, hehe, so cool.
And those pizzas below look so damn delicious!
Peggy - you are an awesome grandma.
What fun....we sit around my daughters firepit in the summer...mine is retired...lol and i know the kids just love it.... smores and hobo pies, and those wonderful grilled hotdogs.... hmmmm I think I'm going to go eat....that made me hungry just thinking about it...... it looks like a good time was had by all Peggy.....
how cute...your grandkinds are very lucky..
hope you get your dsl soon;)
