Sourdough Starter Recipe

Several have ask me to post the sourdough recipe. I had posted awhile back but this time I am posting the sourdough starter first and will post the bread recipe tomorrow so that it will be easier for you to follow. Its very easy and very tasty... enjoy

Sourdough Starter
1 medium potato
1 pkg. dry yeast
1 tablespoon sugar
Peel the potato and boil in enough water to cover until soft. Drain off the water and reserve. Mash the potato thoroughly. Add enough water to the reserved potato water to make 2 cups lukewarm liquid. Dissolve the yeast in the liquid. Stir in the mashed potato and sugar. Let this mixture stand in a glass or crockery container, loosely covered, for 2 days or more, stirring occasionally. The starter should be refrigerated at this stage and should be fed every 3 to 5 days with feeder mix.

Feeder Mix
3/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons instant potatoes
1 cup warm water
Mix all this into the starter and let this sit for 8 to 10 hours and either give away a cup or use one cup of starter to make sourdough bread.
