This blog is a journal of the simple living on a small 2 and a half acre farm. The ups and downs. The good and the not so good. Adventures of Hidden Haven animals and some of my own. Where is Winter?
Yesterday was in the mid 70's and today may even reach 80! Mother Nature is sure having fun with the weather! I packed away all the summer clothes. The jackets, sweaters, sweats, hats and mittens are all laundried and waiting. I love cold weather. I love going out to feed and milk and feeling the cold air against my face, see my breath. I love when it gets snowy and icy and we have a nice fire in the stove, pot of soup simmering on top, tea kettle singing its tune. I love when the power goes off and we can light our oil lamps and snuggle down and read all the books we haven't had time for all summer. Feel free to remind me of this post when Mother Nature gives me what I wished for! On a different note the peepster has company. Peepette was waiting under Betty Boop for me this morning. No, I don't know if they are he and she but right now I am calling them that. When they are older and have their own little personality I will give them there real names. So 2 chicks hatched and around 28 more to go!

How cute! I love the feel of baby chicks.
I, like you, LOVE the cold weather! It got warm here yesterday too, but today a little blustery. Those little chicks are sooo cute!!! I can't wait to get my new order for Miss Diva's soap!! Yummmmm!! xoxo
LOL Peggy, thanks for helping me! But you know what, I now know how dumb this will sound, but I forgot when you told me they were sitting on the eggs!; that those eggs hatched. You can tell I would not make a good farmhand. :) Had to laugh at myself on that one, but you know the way my day has gone I needed it, so thanks so much Peggy!
God Bless!
Those mamas are VERY protective of their peeps. I am surprised you got him away from her. I love it when peeps come.
While you're having warmer than normal temps for this time of year, we just got over a foot of snow this morning! Puts me more in the Christmas mood though! lol Love the little chick, they're so adorable!!
I've never heard of anyone hatching peepers in fall here.
How many hens do you have and type?
Too cute!
28 more to hatch?!
You better start makng a name list now.
We were so warm and sunny yesterday too, mid 70's...I had a grand day. Went to an Estate Sale, the flea market, a good yard sale.
Today...it is grey, raining, *cold*, bone-aching dreary. I confess....I have been in my jammies ALL day. (and plan to stay in them, LOL)
