We Will Never Forget

I don't think any of us will ever forget where we were on September 11,2001. William and I had just left New York City earlier that morning heading home. We were 30 miles from where the plane went down in PA. William's daughter had called us to make sure we were okay is how we found out anything had happened. We turned the radio on and cried. We couldn't seem to stop listening to all the news reports nor could we believe it had really happened. Americans came together to morn the lost lives, to help in anyway we could. No one even thought about race, wealth or any of the things that stop us most days from even talking much less helping a stranger. We will never forget the lives lost or all the hero's of that day. I just wish we hadn't forgotten the feeling we all got as we came together as a nation. How we came together as equals with love and concern for our fellow man. My prayers are for the families that have lost their loved ones and my prayers are for us, Americans. Lets not forget to be united in love and helping hand for each other.

Amen Peggy.....I also was out of town in a hotel when we heard the news.....it really did make us cry.. how unfair....I couldn't pull my self from the tv for weeks. Hopeful of finding people alive....I have always questioned the fact of why democrates and republicans are always tearing each other apart....but on 9/11 it didn't seem to matter which political side you were on, for they all worked together....why does it have to take something so horrible for us to unite..?

It is one of those times in history where you remember where you were and what you were doing with such clarity that it still hurts. Thanks for sharing your moment with us.

I was teaching a 5th grade class when one of my boys came in, grabbed my hand and said, sit down Mrs. Steffes, I have something to tell you. He told me what he had seen on TV and we turned on the classroom TV. When the first people started jumping, we turned off the TV and prayed together. It was the first time I had prayed with my class.

The day our world changed will never be forgotten. Many Canadians had family and friends working in the Twin Towers so we truly shared the fear and horror our fellow American compatriots were going through. I called my son in Toronto...he works near the CN Tower and they had been evacuated because they had deemed that area one of the spots most likely for terrorists to strike if the carnage continued. I sat in front of the tv for days and cried for hours on end. No, we will never forget. xoxox
