They are Almost Here!!

My daughter Melody, son in law Joseph and grands; Woody, Hope, Zack, Julie, and Justin decided to drive down tonight (6hr drive) so the kids would sleep on the way down and they could be here to help with morning chores. I am excited. They should be here around 1am. I have a breakfast casserole sitting in the fridge to pop in the oven in the morning. Will make some biscuits and gravy to go with it after chores . Think everyone will be hungry by then. We have lots of things planned but also time to just relax and enjoy catching up.
Ms. Fran got 2 more cards today. She is walking to the mailbox each day now. She was letting her son in law pick up the mail on his way home. That wasn't like her as she always took her daily walk by going to get the mail. Thanks to all your cards she is back to taking her daily walk!
I got more of the fall decorations up today. Did a few things around the soap shop and back porch. Will post more photos in the morning. Everyone have a wonderful weekend and count those blessings!

Enjoy your company. Was I seeing things or did a goat appear out of nowhere on my cursor?

How funny.

Good morning Peggy, Am I in time for breakfast??? My husband would love your biscuits and gravy...He misses the gravy his mom and sister made when they were alive..I have tried to make it and it is like glue..... Have a nice visit with all of your family.

That's wonderful to hear about Fran up and walking again and you "sound" like you are in such a good mood and ready to take on those grandkids! Have a great weekend, Peggy. As I'm sure you will! :) ((hugs)) ~Kristie

Peggy,

I sent your neighbour Fran a card today. I hope she likes getting one from a Canadian Gentleman.

It is interesting she now is walking to the post. People need a reason to carry on and sometimes it is just some little things.

Years ago in Framingham Ma when I lived in the area, they had a nursing home where many residents had crawled into bed "perhaps to die." They began offering the residents a beer in the afternoon. One had to be up and dressed and in the lounge to get it. Nearly everyone got up out of their beds for the beer and of course, interaction with the other residents.

I just researched a little on biscuits and gravy. Southern friends often mention it. The biscuit part is what I know as "tea biscuits" which I make often and they are wonderful (says I modestly). I have them with real butter and/or jam while they are still warm. I must try the gravy. Biscuits and gravy seem to bring back memories for many. Your grandchildren will be telling their children about it and wishing they could make them as nice. Here is one persons such memories http://www.foodreference.com/html/artbiscuitsandgravy.html

my mouth is watering - biscuits & gravy! We don't have them here but when I was over there (three times, I have visited) biscuits and gravy were one of my favourite breakfast items when we stopped for breakfast. Biscuits here are like your cookies and your biscuits are similar to what we call scones...but we serve them with jam and cream.
oh and breakfast casserole? what is that?
