The birthing kit is ready and waiting by the door.
The blankets and sweaters are ready to put on the newborns to keep them warm
William and Larry have the delivery room ready. And even built a small connecting pen so mom can get some exercise and fresh air. We put clean straw inside for mom and the babies. They even have windows to let sunlight in and for them to look out of! We have a heavy rubber tarp covering the opened end to keep them nice and toasty warm.
We are ready and waiting. Waiting on Sammi. The ligaments are thinning. Her bag is full, there is a small amber discharge and small contractions. So we just wait and pray its a safe healthy delivery (and not in the middle of a freezing cold night)

Hi Peggy,
How exciting for you!! Seems like I just went through birthing excitement a few days ago!! :)
We have a full moon right now. Does this theory apply to goats as well as humans? I'm hoping for an uncomplicated birthing and daylight/sunshine for you!!
I'm hoping to be back posting tomorrow after being out of commission for a few days. Come on by if you get a chance.
Hugs,
Hope

How is your little friend, Ms. Fran doing?
Poor Sammi looks like she is ready to bust. I am anxious to hear about the babies when they gat arrive.
Oh, I hope it's not in the middle of a cold night either!! Poor Sammi! Looks like you are all ready for the big moment!
Peggy...
Ewwwww...how exciting...I love babies...of any kind. I pray Sammi has a safe and daylight birth...and if she doesn't you can just run around the house...screaming..."Miss Scarlett, Miss Scarlett or in your case "Miss Sammi, Miss Sammi...I don't know nothin' about birthin' no babies!"....that should get you off the hook of having to hold the light and warm the babies in the middle of the night...RIGHT??
Blessings...
Teresa
Hope all goes well. That poor thang looks ready.
Poor thing. At least you've been through this already. No more "new mother" syndrome! How exciting!! xo
how many babies do goats normally have???
wow! i bet baby goats are so cute! i can't wait to see pics! my cousin had a goat once... Gus. he was a pygmy or something... they let him roam around the yard and in the barn--sometimes he would come inside.... but i think he started tearing up the yard. not sure what happened there... so they gave him to a guy up the road who had a girl goat. he's probably happier with another goat!! i am definitely going to be checking back for pics of the kid(s). :)
I can't wait to see the babies - I love nubians! We have one goat in maternity at the minute - and should have babies sometime this week-end. I think. :-) She's a boer cross, and this is her first birth.. so I have no idea what her babies will look like, I don't know what her parents were. :-)
Hi Peggy, ive sure missed a lot here. I wish Sammi a very safe delivery and hope its not in the middle of the night. look forward to seeing the photo's. BTW. how is Ms Fran going.. now my family have all gone ill be back more often.
