I cut the grass this morning and then went over and cut Fran's grass and cleaned out some of her flower beds. Her daughter is living in her house and is in a wheelchair so can't do alot of things. I finished planting my herb garden and mulched it. I also planted more green beans and melons in the big garden. Spent some time with the new goats. They are slowly warming up to me and letting me pet them. Blinkin is giving Nitro and the boys a hard time today. Poor guys were just enjoying the sunshine and made the mistake of looking at Blinkin. She gave Nitro and Frosty Dan a hard headbutt to their side. They were so shocked they just stood there and looked at her. Blinkin just tossed her head and walked off . She is older and pregnant so think her mood swings are going to keep the boys on their toes! I know when her ears are sticking out she isn't in a playful mood and just feed her and walk away. I don't want to mess with a moody goat as I know I would never come out ahead. Sold 6 dozen eggs today. The chickens are giving us almost 2 dozen eggs a day so have plenty. We are so blessed to have fresh milk, cheese, eggs and veggies from right here on the homestead. Living a simple life is living the perfect life in my eyes. Have a blessed weekend!!

Blinkin need a time out for her pre-pardum aggression. The boys are long suffering!
I actually wish we had enough grass to cut. We are waiting for a cold rainy spell with snow.
My friend Denis is stranded in the exploration camp ib the North West while they have a foot of snow fall. The things he suffers for the search for diamonds!

Livin' the simple life..but it requires a lot of work. I remember when i was young and we lived on the farm. My mother was busy all of the time. I simply HATED to have to gather eggs..those hens would not let me have them.
You are fortunate though..you have what you need to exist!! Hope your day goes great. Sandy

I love fresh eggs. I can't even stand a store bought egg. The only thing is they are hard to find here.
I did find a lady at the hospital that sales them when my client was in there. I just hope I can find her again.

Blinky's not like that at all- she's a sweetie all the time, ear talk not withstanding.
When she lived here with us, she was very cozy in the pen with Katie-Goat and Gawain the Unicorn- most of that ear talk is play, with some "I'm the queen." thrown in.
What a great blog..I enjoy reading about goats, gardens and all that you do on your own..I think it is a beautiful, happy life..Didn't say it wasn't hard work, I know better.
Your homestead life is wonderful!! Having all the critters and the bounty they provide = pure bliss!!!
If I were closer I'd sure be wanting to buy some of those eggs too!!
