Baby's Baby

When I said we were through with kidding I had actually forgotten Baby was due. I mean I knew she was due but with all the Nubian babies being born I put Baby our dwarf goat out of my mind. Yeah, I'm bad. A couple of days ago I did move her to the maternity pen as I saw she was getting close to kidding. She was in the pen with her mom and sister Christmas Cocoa. While feeding this afternoon I saw her yawning and stretching. She also went inside the maternity house. She never goes inside during the day. After feeding I went and sat with her. Didn't take long to see that she was going to kid. She had a beautiful tiny doeling! Dwarf babies are so tiny and cute but boy do they have energy! They get up and start nursing a lot faster than Nubian kids. Little one doesn't have a name yet but I promise... this is the last kid until May! We are really finished with kidding season till May.... Honest! LOL

Oh, you know how I love those dwarves! So gorgeous. The babies really are tiny, huh?! Especially when compared to Baby, who isn't that big to begin with!

Another congrats, Peggy. So Baby had a baby!!!! She's a cutie. How about Bambino for her name!!! Or Tiny or Tiny Baby.... Let your mind wander. You'll come up with a great name.

How many new kids do you have now??? I've lost count--but I do know that you sold a couple of them.

Hugs,
Betsy

Too sweet and I agree dwarf goats do have a lot of energy, I should know since we raised Nigerians first then now the Mini-Nubians can be the same way but we give them a special supplement to get them really going, LOL! Nice little Pygmy you have there Peggy.

AAAWWWWEEE!! What a little DOLLY!!! Snowy Grace is still my fav though!--I am always drawn to the ones that "need me"!! We bottle-fed a couple of Nigerian Dwarves a while back and loved how they would sleep in our arms! brought them inside in a cold snap and they stood beside the space heater the exact way they would have if it was mama! IF only they weren't such escape artists-I was always afraid they would get themselves hurt or worse with the stunts they pulled!

She looks so tiny! And cute as a button! I hope the others don't step on her :o( ~ when they are that small how to you make sure they are okay not to get messed-up in the crowd?

Kidding and lambing season is still weeks away here in the Great North Woods of upper NH. Seeing all your little ones makes me just want to snuggle one of them. Our time will come but not till the weather gets a little warmer so I'll just have to be patient and oogle over yours. -Sandy
