Almost Back

I didn't purchase a new computer but have spent hours working on mine. I have it back up but have lost all my files and photos. Of course I never backed anything up. I always thought it would never happen to me. I haven't gotten mine back online yet. Seems that the lovely Embarq forgot to notify me or send me a new DSL modem. Mine I was told by a tech was obsolete. I should have had a new one several years ago when Sprint went to Embarq. I didn't and have wondered for awhile why I was having trouble getting online. The new one should be here tomorrow or Thursday and I will have my computer back up and going. With the way the economy is I just couldn't purchase a new computer if I could fix mine. It's not that old and after working with it I have it back to the way it was when I purchased it. I just don't have my favorites, my passwords, my files and my photos. If I had your site in my favorites it will take me awhile to get back to it. I always put sites in favorites for a little bit to see if its one I will visit often then I move it to my blog list or follow it. I have also lost some of my soap files and all my soap photos for my shop. I felt like sitting down and just crying but I am blessed I was able to get my computer back up and running. I am blessed I will have a faster, newer DSL connection. I am blessed my husband has been home to share his laptop with me till mine is back online.
We got a lot of things done outside today. Pens cleaned up, feed room cleaned, part of the yard raked and cleaned, floors swept and mopped, and rabbit cages cleaned. Tomorrow we have even more things to get done and a trip to Dunn to visit a feed and seed store that wants to sell my soap products. When things get rough the Lord always sends a little something nice my way to make me smile or help me out. William will be heading out Saturday for Texas. His freight has been slow the past month and that is scary but something we expected. The goat babies are doing good in kiddie daycare and our milk production has picked way up. That is a good thing as I can make more soaps and also have enough milk for my customers. I placed a ad on Craigs list and within an hour had sold all the eggs we had. I have another customer coming tomorrow for 10 dozen. I have orders from 2 businesses for soaps, plus several orders to ship out so tomorrow will find me in the soap shop part of the day. I always get William to bag and tag for me when he is here so it doesn't take as long. This weekend is suppose to be nice and warm so will be back out in the garden planting. Spring is just a few weeks away!

Hi Peggy, Sorry for the trouble with the computer files/photos etc. How disheartening but all your other news is very exciting. I know you both are extremely busy. Take care and check in when you can.

Oh Peggy, I am so sorry you lost everything. I did the same thing thinking it will never happen to me. Thank goodness the hub had just backed ME up the week before so my loss was minimal. We are so gullible to think everything is ok and will stay that way. I hope everything gets better for you. xoxo

Well, it's wonderful that you got the computer back up. I know it stinks to wait for the modem, but it'll be there soon. Co-incidentally, my phone quit last week, and it took till today to get a replacement. The intervening days were aggravating - I know how you feel. Spring IS just a few weeks away!!

Oh Peggy--you have a much better attitude than I would have. I would absolutely die IF I lost my photos and files. Luckily we do back them up --in two places. Get yourself a external hard-drive and back your stuff up from now on.

So Sorry for what has happened to you.
Hugs,
Betsy

Been there, done that.....backup or putting picture on a cd is so important, because I too, lost almost all mine....but through blogspot, flickr' and Picasa had alot of them, and I sent them back into my pictures files....I usually always made a cd of my grandkids, or important events, but I lost most of my nature, flower etc. pictures....and i loved them.... Your sight looks beautiful....if I feel down, I just pop over to your blog and it brightens my day.....even though you lost your pictures on your computer, the ones you used on blogspot should still be on your posts....then you can copy and send to your files....I hope it works.... judy

Hi Peggy: Since you have photos posted of your soaps on the Esty site, all you have to do is right click those photos and "save picture as" to your computer. Hope this helps =)

Oh sis, I'm so sorry your computer crashed and that you lost all your pictures and files:-) That's such a nightmare to all of us computer users!! I usually save all my pictures on disk when I have enough to fill one up...I'm due to do that again.

So glad to hear that William is still home and can help you with so many things. You sure will be busy with all those orders but as you say, with these tough economic times, it's nice to know you'll still have money coming in with those orders!! Love you sis. xoxo

I've had a house burn down... I can feel your pain. I was in the middle of a hectic quarter at school (my first in 10 years!) and lost EVERYTHING except a single shoebox of pictures.

Now, I send everything to my gmail account, regardless of what it is. If it's important, something I want to hang on to, it's in gmail. That way, no matter what, I've got backup, of some sort.

Good luck!

Well I am glad you have your photos on your blog. Tell William if he is coming my way to let me know and I will put the pot on for him. Spring has been in TX for about a week. My peas and radishes are up. Will be planting broccoli this weekend. Now I am going out tomorrow to by me a back up drive!

Peggy,

I know how it feels to have your computer crash and lose all your files. That has happened to me with my writing. Thank goodness I had my most prized stories backed up on floppies. However, when I purchased this computer last August, it didn't have an "A" drive, so I couldn't get to my work. My neighbor had an A drive and was able to open and send all of those stories to me via email. I was truly blessed.

Glad to hear that William has work. I'm sure it was nice to have him home for a spell. I know you work hard when he's away.

Drop over to my Writing Nook and put your name into the drawing for an autographed copy of Miralee Ferrell's latest book. I'm sure you would enjoy it.

Blessings,
Mary

Im sorry that you are having lots of troubles. I listen to Rush Limbaugh and he always talks about this company he uses to back up his computers and its under $5 a month. I cant remmeber the name of it, I will ask Justin. I hope you start to feel happier soon:) Thanks for thinking of paying me a visit when you are going through all this:)

Wow, that's a lot of eggs!! 10 dozen!

I don't eat eggs but my daughter has chickens and has about 25 a day. I only cook with them and my hubby rarely eats them so I usually end up hard boiling them for the dogs just before the expiry date!!

Peggy, Sorry about computer, I too understand that problem. I am glad your business is going good, but sorry freight is slow.
My husband took a cut in pay, but still has his consulting job.
Things will get better, I think we all need to pray for this country.
