Woke up to about a half inch of snow this morning. Everything was so pretty and white till around 9am. The sun came out and the snow melted. The girls and boys are use to the snow now and just ignored the white wet stuff. The kids didn't know what to do. They would go to the edge of their stall and look out then run to the back and huddle. They didn't come out until it had melted. I wish they had been here when we got the 6 inches of snow! I was ask if the bucks ever take care of the kids. We keep our bucks separate from the girls so they don't do a unplanned breeding. When the kids are weaned the bucklings are put in with the big boys. They sniff around and seem to know which ones are theirs and watch over them. They will push the others away. When we first had goats we kept Nitro with Sammi and Diva. Nitro babysat so Diva and Sammi could have a night out. Bucks make good dads.
This blog is a journal of the simple living on a small 2 and a half acre farm. The ups and downs. The good and the not so good. Adventures of Hidden Haven animals and some of my own. The sharing of our frugal, hardworking, attempt to be as self sufficient as possible. Please stop by often as we love company!

Yea! Happy you got a little more pretty snow! Our weather has been whacky too. Snowed all day yesterday and then today is like Spring.
Hi Peggy---Don't ever feel guilty for not writing us. We all know you are very busy. Thanks for the answers about the way the males and females react and respond. That is so special.
Lots of Hugs,
Betsy

Hi Peggy,
My buck, White Ears, is a great day.
Right now he watches over my little Miracle Eve.
Enjoy your time with your husband. I sure understand about getting things done.
Have a good weekend.

I am glad you have had such a good taste of snow this Winter. I know how you like it. I have had more than enough this year. Another month and it will begin to melt.
You are getting to be an old hand at debuding I see. It would be nice to have some young goat around.
I just had to call the piglets from going up the road to the neighbours. Time to pen them up.
I really enjoy coming here and learning about your goats! You do a nice job of explaining things and describing thier personalities.

Cute pictures! I am glad you got some snow, I know you wanted some.
Nice pictures! As Peggy said we keep our bucks away from the does so there aren't any accidental breedings but we have had our share of accidental breedings though!
So nice to see the photos. Hope you and William get a chance to catch up on everything you want to do this weekend. God bless you both.
Ouch, they may have gotten over it, but I'm still hurting on my head!
