Hidden Haven Security

For over a year we have been looking for a great pyrenees dog. They are excellent goat guard dogs. They are very devoted to watching over their goat family. We wanted a dog already trained and raised around goats. Some are more of a family pet and not trained to be with goats. Some are too protective and won't allow humans in the goat pens. Some are chicken killers. So we have just looked and talked about it... until now. William saw an ad on Craigs list and made a call. We emailed and talked on the phone to the very wonderful Wallace family. William even stopped by to visit the family when he was in Lexington on business last week. We emailed and talked some more and finally today we made a rush 6 hour round trip to bring home our great pyrenees puppy. A BIG puppy! He is very very sad to have left his human and goat family. He has taken to me and loves for me to pet and rub him but I still haven't gotten a smile or happy look yet. I know in time he will grow to love us and Hidden Haven but he has to have time to adjust and grieve the loss of his old home and family. The Wallaces were very sad to let him go. Like us times are hard for them right now so they are cutting back on their goat herd and dogs. God brought a christian family looking for a goat dog together with a christian family looking for a good home for their goat dog. Not only did we get a wonderfully trained dog for our goats and new four legged family member, we got some wonderful friends that love goats as much as we do! So here are pictures of our new family member. These are photos the Wallaces took before we brought him home. I have been busy loving on him and getting him settled in instead of taking his picture. He is in the pen next to the back porch with the dwarf goats right now. I walked him around to meet all the goats but Mandy, Baby, CC and Tiny Tina were right at home with him. Eventually he will be staying in the pen with the kids but for now he is where I can go out often and love on him. He is with goats which he likes and is use to being with. He ate all his supper and is settled down to sleep at the moment. Tomorrow I hope he will feel a little less sad and feel all the love Hidden Haven has to offer. Here is Rowdy. Thank you again Wallace Family!

Rowdy is beautiful and is very blessed to have TWO families who love him so very much. Very interesting about his protection of the goats. It will be fun to get to know and love him like I do the rest of your large family. Hope you and William have a great weekend. Tell Rowdy that Harriet sends a smooch!

He's beautiful. We are also starting the search for a great pyr that has been around goats and chickens. Our chickens are free range so we need a dog that won't eat them. I know the goats and sheep are anxious to not be locked in the stall together every night.

What a Sweetheart! I'm sure he will soon be all settled in and very happy in his new home.
We adopted a (part) pyranees last fall from a shelter...he is just the dearest thing, just a big baby, really. He is a wonderful companion.
Congratulations on your new addition!
Blessings,
Pam

Poor dog he looks sooooooooo sad. But as the days go by and you spoil him a little and he sees the love there at Hidden Haven he will get in "the swing of things". He is so beautiful. I hope his family realizes he has gone to a wonderful, caring home.

He'll be frolicking about and happy to be the one "in charge" of the goats fairly soon. He sure is adorable!

But...the real question is: Does he know you put hats on the animals during holidays?

These are wonderful working dogs. I have a neighbour who has two that stay with his flock of sheep. They live with the sheep and do not go into the house.

I have watched them position themselves between the sheep and stray dogs which apppeared outside the fence. They did not join the dogs or even threaten them but just placed themselves with authority between the intruders and the flock. The strays moved on and the dogs went back to laying near the sheep.

I am sure you will love this intelligent loyal working dog.

No fake ears for this one , please!

Oh sis, Rowdy is just gorgeous and I have no doubt that he will soon know how very well loved he will be at Hidden Haven!! I had a friend who once had a great pyrenees dog and he was the most gentle giant of a dog I'd ever seen. xoxo
