Cool Weather and a Drunk Goat
The doors and windows have been opened for the past couple of days. The cooler weather is suppose to continue through the weekend. I am enjoying every second and so are the animals. The chickens are running around scratching and taking dust baths instead of sleeping the day away. The turkeys are strutting proudly with their feathers all spread out instead of sticking their head under their wings. The ducks have came back out of the woods and enjoying sunbathing. The pigs are rooting around instead of spending the day sleeping in their mud holes. The goats are back to seeing what all they can find to get into before Tinker catches them and herds them to their room for punishment. Tinker is enjoying her squeaky toy almost all day long much to our and I am sure the neighbors dislike. Tramp and Daniel have come out of the hole Tramp dug for them to nap in and are actually stretched out in the sun napping their days away. Kuma and Rusty are enjoying having the doors open as its easy for them to push the screen door and go outside on their own. They just need lessons from Whiskers and Troubles how to use their paw to open it so they can come back in on their own. I have enjoyed raking all the chicken pens, restrawing the nesting boxes and just tidying the animals homes. Feels good to work outside and not be dripping wet with sweat after 5 minutes. Love listening to the birds singing and the animals talking to each other. For some strange reason we are covered up with black birds. If you ever saw the movie "The Birds" with all the trees filled with birds just sitting there. Well the trees here are loaded with black birds. You go outside and hear their loud chirping and look up to see them sitting on all the limbs just looking at you. Kinda creepy in a way but also nice seeing so many. Had a nice laugh over Buttons the milk goat today. William mixes up cracked corn, hog feed, sweet feed, bread and water in a barrel each evening. He feeds the pigs with it the next morning and evening. By sitting overnight the corn ferments a little but the pigs love it. So does Buttons. She somehow found a way to get to the barrel and help herself to some before Tinker found her and sounded the alarm. The fermenting corn made Buttons a bit shall we say tipsy. She tried her best to get back to the hog feed and when William fed the pigs she followed him around waiting on him to set the bucket down so she could have another swig, I mean taste of the mash. It made her feel so happy she was running and playing tag with Precious. Playing king of the mountain on a stump with Tinker, and being loving and sweet with me. She usually tries to steal rabbit and chicken feed from me while I am feeding. She gave all of us including the other animals a good chuckle before she decided to take a early bedtime. I went out a couple times tonight to check on everyone and she was snoring away. Poor Precious and Tinker are having a rough night of it. Besides the snoring Buttons is passing some pretty strong gas!

Nice to see you Bloggin' again, Peggy. Williams' 'brew' brings back memories of TN stills and 'leggers', so many years ago. (not that I was ever involved with it.)
It sounds like everyone is having a much more comfortable life with the cooler temps. Everyone seems to be happy. I'm happy that your farm is so peaceful. Watch those birds! hahaha
That's so funny about the drunken goat and Tramp and Daniel have remained friends? That's wonderful for both of them.
Isn't the cool weather wonderful? We've been having the same but for us it's heating up for the next week with high temps and high humidity! Oh I'll be so happy to see winter this year. My son and family are coming for a week arriving on Sunday so it will be good for them at least.
Oh that is hilarious Peggy! Never a dull moment with your menagerie of beloved pets! Blessings to you and William this weekend.
It's amazing how simple things like having the windows open and being able to go about are daily lives without breaking into a sweat are so pleasing, LOL. I am thrilled that I was able to take the ACs out of the windows this past week and hope I don't have to put them back.
Thanks for sharing your "barnyard" tales, they always put a smile on my face.s
I'm waiting for the cool weather here. I have a lot of things outside that need to get done but it is still just too hot. Your drunk goat sounds hilarious! Almost makes me want to get one of ours drunk.
your title certainly drew me in Peggy :-)
What a cute post, Peggy... I love hearing about your animals.... So Buttons really had a good day, huh???? How funny!!!! Poor Tinker and Precious... ha
I love this cooler weather also. We went to the Smokies today (Cades Cove) and acted like tourists with our cameras.... FUN!!!!!
Love your Fall theme/colors... I need to change mine soon..
Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy
That's so funny , still chuckling. Hope Buttons doesn't have a hangover (LOL). The weather was nice today, loving it too.
~ Be Blessed ~
I love the cooler weather of fall. This is my favorite time of year. That's too funny about the drunk goat. They do love to get into things don't they? But that why I like goats - there's never a dull moment.
