Goodbye Dear Lady

Lady died this afternoon. (You can click on her name to read her story). She was getting old and arthritis was really giving her a hard time. The past few days the heat seem to take everything out of her. Lady just seemed to know it was her time. She struggled to get up this afternoon for her petting from William. Later she got up and came to me for her dog biscuit and treat. She went straight to lay down in front of her doghouse and just look up at me like she was so tired. I told William then she wouldn't make it through the night. She wasn't in pain. Just seemed like she was ready to go. A hour later she passed away. Our hearts are breaking over losing a loyal, loving, sweet member of our family but I am also worried about Tramp. He has never been away from Lady's side since the day we rescued him. He howled and howled when we removed Lady from the pen. I have him in with Polly right now but he just lays at the fence and looks over to his and Lady's pen. I know he is hurting and am afraid he will grieve himself to death. I don't know what to do for him.  It's a very sad day here at Hidden Haven but we are very blessed to have had Lady in our lives for so many years. Lady you may be gone but you will never be forgotten.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I hope Trampy will be okay and not grieve too long. Maybe some extra attention and hugs from mom and dad will help.

It truly is like losing a family member. Our little Trixie is showing her age the past few months and we dread the day when we lose her.

My thoughts.....I'd check with the vet and see what you can do to help Tramp if anything. Then, I check the pound for a dog as similar to Lady as I can find over the next few weeks. Possibly after a few days giving Tramp another dog to take her mind off Lady will help. You might introduce them before you bring the other dog home. Or at least have an agreement to take the new dog back if Tramp cannot handle it. Best to you. I'm so sorry your beloved Lady passed to doggie heaven.

Oh how sad. I too am in tears reading this. How totally heartbreaking. Other than losing a child, I can't think of anything worse than losing a beloved pet.
Believe me, I feel your pain and I wish I could take it away from you...

I'm so sorry as well, Peggy. And hopefully her pal can find comfort and friendship with another one of your animals. They grieve. That's for sure.

So sorry for your loss of Lady. She looked like such a lovely, loving dog and a best friend. It's never easy to loose anyone you love. I know many people don't think of pets and therieving as being the same as for a person, but it is. {{{HUGS}}} to you and yours and know that Lady will be waiting for you on the rainbow bridge.
Blessings,
Kelle

I feel so badly for you and the loss of your beloved pet, Lady. I hope her companion adjust to her loss.

My son has a very old dog, which was his first child, before the grandchildren came along. It has trouble just getting about. He cannot every consider it passing out of his life.

It is all very hard but the alternative is to have no pets. For some a life without pets would be so diminished.

Sincere condolences on your loss.

We recently lost our 35 year old mare due to old age so I can totally share your feelings.

I'm so sorry that you've lost your precious friend. It's always so hard when they leave us. May your heart be comforted with the knowledge that she waits for you at the rainbow bridge.

Oh, gosh! I hate losing furry friends. Tramp must have known also. Fuzzy was depressed for months until I let him have Checkers dog house. He then started sleeping in the house and seemed happier. Her smell was still there for him to smell, I suppose.

Blessings, Dear. Blessings to you and all yours on such as this time. Death is very devastating for our other animals. I too have these experiences and watched their grief. Extra attention and handling, comforting helps our animals but it takes time passing for them to recover.

The heat is causing havoc in so many ways.

I'm liking your posts, the more I get into them, the more I like. The music is so good too. I want it too.

I have been back at school and missed posts. I am so sorry about this. This is just so heartbreaking. I will pray for Tramp. I have 2 dogs that are very close to each other and I know that Jayce would be especially lost without Bella. Praying for you all.
