New House On The Homestead

Last week I found a mailbox still attached to the post in the dumpster when we took our trash. Of course it had to come home with me. I knew exactly what I was going to do with it. Painted it with paints given to me when a lady cleaned out her garage. Cut a hole in the door of the mailbox and bent the metal up to make a roof over the doorway so the birds wouldn't get wet. I had a wooden swing bird feeder that I hung close by so they wouldn't have far to go for food. Hopefully the birds will spread the word and next spring Bird Haven Cottage will be rented!

Oh --you are just too darn creative, Peggy... I love all of the things you pick up along the way... I never seem to get that lucky--but then again, I'm not as creative as you are.

Love the new bird house... Wish I were a birdie in your yard!!!!

Have a great weekend.
Hugs,
Betsy

Now that is cute. Love the bright colors. I'm sure you'll have a tenant soon. Don't you love it when you find freebies? I know I do.

I'm with Betsy!! If I found that all I would see would be an old mailbox that would be good for nothing!!
You are very imaginative!!

I love the new birdhouse. I know the birds will too!

You know I found our Hoosier Cabinet at the dumpster one day when I took off the garbage.

You did a great job on the birdhouse.
Have a great weekend.

I saw a pair of bluebirds in my back yard recently. What surprise, I am not sure if I ever saw bluebirds before. In any case, I thought this was a little far north for them. Not so apparently, they are making a comeback after the problems with DDT.

I am thinking of making some bluebird boxes for next year, your inventiveness makes me think I should go shopping in the dump.

I love this. I have one sitting in the kitchen and I was wondering what cool thing I could do with it.
