Fred and Ginger

While the auction was going on things at the homestead were changing. The painting on outside of the house is almost finished. The storage building has its walls up and roof almost on and Fred and Ginger have moved in! Yep, Fred and Ginger have decided they love hidden haven and want to call it home. They are bourbon red turkeys that are huge but so gentle and calm. Its like watching a couple that have been dancing for years together. They even seem to dance when they are eating. Prince Charles (peacock) was raised with turkeys so he thinks his long lost family has come back. He is right there with Fred and even grooms him! Fred is so laid back he almost falls asleep during the grooming. Princess Di now thinks she is a chicken and hangs out with the hens gossiping about the ducks. Its the talk of the town that Sally is sleeping with Donald and Daffy! Sally has laid 7 eggs so far but ducks don't sit on their eggs until they have what they consider enough. 28 days from the day Sally starts sitting on them she should have babies. Miss Diva is happy and healthy after coming in season and wanting the handyman! She was in such a mood she was charging at the chickens so I let her out of the pen to follow me around. The only thing was since there wasn't a buck goat around she decided that Wayne looked pretty good. She rubbed all over him, nudge at him, followed him everywhere. Even tried to follow him up the ladder! That was when I decided she needed to go back in the pen. This weekend I am going to look at some Nubian bucks and another Nubian nanny. Miss Diva is ready to be a mommy again.
Last Saturday Jane and I went to a dwarf goat show. We arrived just when they were judging the dairy goats. These cuties were between 55 and 65 inches tall!

Jane has decided she wants a dwarf goat! Maggie my oldest daughter has a pair of Norwegian dwarfs and has promised her one or two when they have babies.

Well, besides making pear butter and apple butter that all that's going on around the homestead during the auction. I have missed blogging but we raised a lot of money for Lisa and family. Again I say thank you. Ms Robyn will be putting the names of the donors in a hat and drawing a name out for a special gift from her to say thank you. Be sure and scroll down to the auction post to read the winners and don't forget to send your payment in if you have won.

When I got your email last night I just burst into tears and everytime I think of what you all have done I well up again. You all have no idea, just no idea, what your kindness and generosity mean to my family. I told Ed and he was simply stunned. This will help pay the propane bill, the last dr. bill, and provide us with many months of the Enbril as well. Thank you all SO MUCH!

Hi Peggy - don't you just love miss Diva - ahhh what a woman.
I hope she eventually finds a real man for herself!
could you please send me the list of names to go into the hat? thanks xo
I love your turkeys - do they need much room? I would love a pair but not sure if we can even buy them here and you know my feelings about miniature goats - - I have been searching for them here. I want one!
