Winners of BossyToes contest I have your packages all ready to go out in Monday's mail. I didn't make it to the post office today. I have received several awards from fellow bloggers. Thank you very much. I promise to post them soon. As usual I am behind. Going from 6 grands to 3 is not much of a change. The boys stay busy outdoors all day and have to be called inside at night. They help alot with the feeding and other chores. They talk more than the girls if you can believe that. They have alot of energy and a adventurous side. I have to override some of their ideals. Did you know boys can spend 2 hours roasting hotdogs for supper? And that it takes a really big fire to roast those hotdogs? It takes even longer to roast marshmallows and a even bigger fire. Who knew? Boys like to stay in the swimming pool till its so dark they can't see each other and then consider that their bath for the day. Boys will try anything, even trying to outdo the others in eating a HOT pepper. They will also spit it out and admit defeat really fast. I admit I let them run to the waterhose to cool their mouths before telling them water made it worse and offering bread. Boys like to spend hours making plans for the next day only to forget them for even better plans. They pick lots of DVDs to watch all night only to fall asleep halfway through the first one. Boys are never full and boys will eat as long as there is something in front of them to eat. Can you tell after raising 3 daughters my grandsons are teaching me alot about boys. I think I was very blessed to have had daughters! LOL

Yep!Having the opportunity to grow up with 5 brothers,no sisters,I'd say your observations are right on the money.Just wait till full puberity kicks in,and they get really confused. Love william

Those Grands are keeping you young, Peggy! Glad you're keeping up! And that is surely a perfect description of boys. (And men!)

I do know that a boy is never happier than when he has a fire to poke around in and kept fed.

For some this becomes a life long obsession. My father became known as "fire bug Robinson" after one of his little fires got away and set the forest on fire around our house.

Just a short word of advice about boys - ALWAYS leave food where they can find it or they start to knaw the cupboard doors!! LOL :)

I so enjoyed your post. I still have a silly grin on my face from the things you wrote. It brough so many memories back to me of Chris growing up. He was so different from Tersie and many times I told him if he had been born first there never would have been a tersie..... I can look back at it and laugh now, but as he was growing up there were many times I could have pulled my hair out. The only thing that kept me from it was I just knew I wouldn't look too good bald.

I just wanted you to know that we set up the incubator and the eggs are there. Hopefully, they will hatch. It will be seven days Wednesday and we will attempt to candle them then. Thank you!

Peggy, I'm the middle one of 5 girls. Believe me, some girls are bottomless pits too. I know as young teens we could eat 4 sandwiches a piece and still be hungry. Now I barely can choke down 1 and a half.
We burned the weight off.We never walked, we always ran every where. I have a grandson in here now at 10:30pm wanting to know if I will get up and make homemade pretzels...
I told him to get a piece of cake...geez
I hope ya'll had a good weekend. God bless, Donna

Ha haha HA! What a rich observation on the nature of boys. :)

Yeah, it is amazing how big a fire is needed to cook much of anything. LOL

I loved your vivid description. We don't need pics for this one. :)

Take care,
Ron

Great story, Peggy!
I guess God knew boys were what I needed. All the things you describe about them is what I love about my boys. I always thought there was an empty place in my heart, never having had a girl. But then came my niece...

She is 13 and practically lives here (4 days of every week) with us. It is a constant whining of "put make-up on me, I need FASHIONABLE clothes, and the best shoes. Dye my hair for me, PAINT my nails for me..." On and ON! It exhausts me to think about it. I've never seen a kid that didn't want to do anything for them self.

I tell her like my mom told me. If you can't put the make-up on yourself or paint your own nails then you aren't old enough to be wearing it.
No,I don't want to spend all day beautifying you. Sheesh.
And do you think she ever takes the initiative to load the dishwasher, or help put away clothes when the dryer beeps. HA, HA, yeah right.

Yep, thankful I got boys that help out and know how to fend for themselves. Even more thankful they aren't so self absorbed. AHHH

I know that most moms of little girls probably love the fact that they get to dress them up and dote over them. I guess that's just not my thing.

The good Lord knows what he's doing when he pairs babies up with parents. ;)
Hugs!

GREAT that you have the privilege of knowing all about boys!! They are not my favorite but i did raise one pretty well. I am just better with girls. i think I understand them a little better!! Boys have their own way of doing things just like you explained!! But you gotta love them..
Blessings, Sandy

i have one son and two daughters and while my son was pretty much like you describe your grandsons, the girls went through teenage angst which my son never did!
it must be so much fun for them to visit with grandma!! I have 3 grandsons and the eldest is 9 and in the holidays we do fun things too. Last week we bought canvas and painted!
