Sorry I haven't been posting. William has been home since Friday and we have been catching up on chores. We also did the thing we hate doing... disbudding the baby goats. Thank goodness that terrible chore is over and they all are doing fine. William came home with a virus and of course gave it to me so we both have been trying to get things done with no energy. I have been in bed before 9pm each night. Just didn't have the energy to stay up plus I could never get warm. We seem to be getting over it somewhat. William has to pick up a load tomorrow morning and then heading to PA. I will be back to doing chores by myself after enjoying having someone help with the feeding and milking. All the critters on the homestead are doing great. You can tell they are getting itchy for spring. The ducks and geese have their nests built and are laying eggs. Won't be very long till they will be sitting to hatch out their babies. The baby goats are growing by leaps and bounds and are so much fun to watch. Kuma took some of the money her mom sent and treated herself and the other dogs to rawhide bones. She treated the chickens to cabbage which we tied on a string so they could peck at it. The geese and ducks got mustard greens which they inhaled quickly. The goats got cookies and the rabbits got lettuce. Everyone sends a big thank you to Kuma's mom Debbi in Germany!!

You can tell you love and take very good care of your animals!
I've been concerned about you Peggy. So sorry to hear you and William have been sick. I know you will miss him when he leaves tomorrow. Thanks for the new photos and it looks like everyone got their favorite! Hope you got a nice mug of your favorite cocoa! Feel better soon dear friend.
Oh, we used to hate disbudding - sometimes we'd use paste, other times, we'd burn the buds. Not fun, either way. :(
Hope you're all feeling better soon!
Glad to hear from you, Peggy. I was 'wondering' what was going on. Sorry to hear that you and Williams have both been sick.
Glad you got your baby goats de-horned (or whatever you call it).. I know that hurts you to have to do that--but it has to be done I'm sure.
Try to get some rest... Glad the babies are all doing fine.
Hugs,
Betsy
Peggy I hope you are feeling better when i am there. Maybe i can help you do chores one day. I leave tomorrow at 9am; I land around 4:30. see you soon
Oh my, she is little!
Nice pictures, never liked the deed of disbudding that is why we let our vet do the deed but I'm glad we don't have to worry about that deed for a very long time since we aren't breeding any goats for us for awhile.
Morning Peggy, Sorry to hear you were sick, but glad you feel a little better. I love the animal pictures. We don't dehorn our goats, when Roy is gone it is easier for me to catch one if it has horns. We have one sick one which we will worm again today. Not a fun chore. I know how you feel when your husband leaves, Roy is gone a week and home a week. Come see me.
I think disbudding would be a LOT easier if we could somehow let them KNOW they will be OK--I Do think that tight pinning down is the cause of 3/4 of the anxiety! And OH how they cry! Our calf sat the vet down on her backside-so she ended up hogtied to get the job done safely--never seen a calf pout like that before.
I love the chicken pinatta!! Party-time in the coop tonight! Ole'!!
Great new pictures! Tiny Tina pushes the cute button into overdrive for sure.
Glad to hear you are starting to feel a little better. Flu season is just no fun anymore, is it?
I hope you are feeling better, we've had it too and it just won't go!!
Poor little kids, I hope they're all feeling better now!
Thank you so much for the update and pictures. Too precious! Kuma is a brand new dog, bathes, going into your house because she wants too. Are you sure you have our dog??? Glad she shared her allowance =) What exactually is debudding? Debbi
I love coming here to visit your 'family'.
I always thought I would like to travel & sleep in truck. Not for too long though!
You know what, sis? It boggles my mind at how tiny Tiny Tina is...I mean, she's not even the size of a chicken yet! Wow! So adorable, though. Looks like the animals were enjoying all their treats:-)
So sorry to hear you and William were both so ill...prayers that you'll both be 100% real soon. Love ya! xoxo
