Cabbage Pinata

I was asked how we make our cabbage pinata for the chickens. Here is the very simple way to give your chickens a little fun and food.

Oh how fun! What a great idea. My chickens usually roll it around pecking at it..

I love it and I am SO going to do it! The other night we discovered Tomato Football. Place half a tomato on the ground and watch them all take turns picking it up and running with it like a quarterback while all the others try to tackle it. It was hilarious becaue eventually the part the chicken was holding on to broke off inot their mouth and another chicken immediately picked it up and ran.

My husband and I are way too easily entertained. lol.

My kind of entertainment. I'll try it for sure. Are you digging the cabbages out of the root cellar or buying them at the store?

William sure is cute in those shorts. ;-)

I want an update on the turkeys.

Peggy,

What fun for the chickens. You certainly are creative.

Hope all is well with you and that you are enjoying some nice weather. We had a lovely day today and did a bit of outside work. Tomorrow is to be the same.

Blessings,
Mary

Cool. I will have to try with out chickens since they have been banned from out of their coop lately. We planted our veggie garden and so no chickens on the loose anymore. They will appreciate the greens this way!

What a cute idea, Peggy... I've never heard of such a thing---but I'm sure the chickens loved it.

Thanks for sharing... I love your blog!
Hugs,
Betsy

I'm thinking a weaving needle (about 6 or 7 inches long and very sturdy) would work; I'm guessing the cabbage will hang longer if you spear it through the core. Awesome idea! Thanks!
