Salem Wants a Bedtime Snack

I am Back!!

Seems the dear young man at Embarq didn't send my order in for a new modem. I called this evening and got another young man that was very sorry to tell me the modem wasn't on its way. He felt so bad he ordered it right then and gave me a order number. He also felt bad or else didn't want to hear me cry about not having my computer that he transferred me to a Embarq engineer. I didn't know phone companies had engineers but I am a country bumpkin what do I know. Anyway, the engineer talked me through some steps to get my computer online for now and it worked and I am back online! It feels so good to be back at my own computer. It also feels so naked to have everything gone from my computer. My screensaver, backgrounds, my favorites, etc. But at least I am back and I can work on the other things! William and I made a mad dash to Dunn and met with Richard from Backyard Feed and Seed. Such a nice man! Wasn't able to meet his wife and son but it was very fun talking with him and checking out his store. Dunn is a Mayberry type town. Small but very clean and friendly. The feedstore is right downtown on a little side street. Its in its original building from 100 years ago! I almost brought some baby chicks and ducks home with me but decided to wait to see what my own hens and ducks hatch out. If you are ever in Dunn, NC stop by Backyard Feed and Seed and tell Richard Peggy the goat lady sent you. While there check out the thriftstores and neat little shops on main street. I know I will be going back when I have more time. And to all that told me about photos being saved on blogger and other online sites. I know and am glad I can recover those. It was the ones I hadn't posted anywhere online I lost along with my soap business paperwork, addresses, etc. But I can get some back as family has copies of some and for the soap business it will just take time to get it all back. This time this old goat lady is going to be backing up..... EVERYTHING! Have a wonderful weekend and thanks again for all the thoughts and help. You guys are the best!!

Not Yet

Modem hasn't arrived yet so I am still on the laptop. Hopefully tomorrow. Things are still busy here. William has been working like crazy to get the outside cleaned up. Which is mostly putting away his equipment and tools. We have also been cleaning up around the toolshed and hay barn. Tomorrow is suppose to be 72F and Sunday night they are calling for snow, go figure! Had a homeschool family visit the farm today. They enjoyed playing with the kids in kiddie daycare. They got to hold Tiny Tina and of course Diva and DiDi had to make sure and get some of their attention. Fred is still wooing Tessa. She is still flirting with Elvis through the fence. The geese have their nests all made and have several eggs. Molene and Curly take turns on hatching eggs. Molene will sit and hatch the first eggs and then Curly will sit and hatch a batch a couple months later. Bonnie and Clyde have their love nest all made and Bonnie has a couple eggs. Hopefully her will hatch this year. Last year she sat very lovingly on her eggs only to have none hatch. It was during the hot summer and she had made her nest in the sun. This year they have a new house that is under the shades of the oak trees. Her eggs shouldn't get too hot and she should have babies. We should also have baby bunnies in time for Easter. Our new black and white spotted rabbit got right to business with one of our lady rabbits. You can tell spring is coming with all the love in the air with the animals. Can't wait till I can post photos again. The animal family has really kept me busy snapping their crazy stunts and adventures. Tomorrow we go to Dunn. Looking forward to meeting Richard in person at Barnyard Feed and Seed. This business has been there for 100 years and they want to sell my soaps! Will be sure and take my camera along. He sent me a cute picture of his Dixie Chicks. They were soft little fluffy chicks on a dixie flag. LOL Thank you all for your emails and comments about my computer. The photos I am upset I lost are ones I saved in files on the computer of each goat delivering, grands visits, farm visitors, etc that I hadn't posted in blogger or anywhere. Just kept in files. Also files on my etsy and soap business that will take forever to make again. But things could be worse. I am blessed I was able to repair the computer and that William is home for me to borrow his laptop. Tomorrow I hope to have my modem...... now I have that song going around in my mind.... night all.

Almost Back

I didn't purchase a new computer but have spent hours working on mine. I have it back up but have lost all my files and photos. Of course I never backed anything up. I always thought it would never happen to me. I haven't gotten mine back online yet. Seems that the lovely Embarq forgot to notify me or send me a new DSL modem. Mine I was told by a tech was obsolete. I should have had a new one several years ago when Sprint went to Embarq. I didn't and have wondered for awhile why I was having trouble getting online. The new one should be here tomorrow or Thursday and I will have my computer back up and going. With the way the economy is I just couldn't purchase a new computer if I could fix mine. It's not that old and after working with it I have it back to the way it was when I purchased it. I just don't have my favorites, my passwords, my files and my photos. If I had your site in my favorites it will take me awhile to get back to it. I always put sites in favorites for a little bit to see if its one I will visit often then I move it to my blog list or follow it. I have also lost some of my soap files and all my soap photos for my shop. I felt like sitting down and just crying but I am blessed I was able to get my computer back up and running. I am blessed I will have a faster, newer DSL connection. I am blessed my husband has been home to share his laptop with me till mine is back online.
We got a lot of things done outside today. Pens cleaned up, feed room cleaned, part of the yard raked and cleaned, floors swept and mopped, and rabbit cages cleaned. Tomorrow we have even more things to get done and a trip to Dunn to visit a feed and seed store that wants to sell my soap products. When things get rough the Lord always sends a little something nice my way to make me smile or help me out. William will be heading out Saturday for Texas. His freight has been slow the past month and that is scary but something we expected. The goat babies are doing good in kiddie daycare and our milk production has picked way up. That is a good thing as I can make more soaps and also have enough milk for my customers. I placed a ad on Craigs list and within an hour had sold all the eggs we had. I have another customer coming tomorrow for 10 dozen. I have orders from 2 businesses for soaps, plus several orders to ship out so tomorrow will find me in the soap shop part of the day. I always get William to bag and tag for me when he is here so it doesn't take as long. This weekend is suppose to be nice and warm so will be back out in the garden planting. Spring is just a few weeks away!

Crash!

My computer finally had enough of me and crashed. I am working on getting it back up and running but it will be a couple days. I am using William's laptop to access emails for soap orders, etc but won't be posting a lot as I don't like Vista and of course that's what he has. Will try to pop in and visit blogs when I can. Have a wonderful week and count those blessings. Even though we all are in hard times with the economy we have many blessings to be thankful for!

Kiddie Daycare

Kiddy Daycare

The kids have started drinking way too much milk and not sharing that much with me. Usually you take the kids away from their moms during the night and then get lots of milk in the morning before putting the kids back with their mom. We do things differently of course. We have a kid daycare for the kids to go to during the day. We get a little milk in the morning and lots and lots in the afternoon before the kids get home for supper. They can run and play together, eat without being pushed away by the big goats and just have lots of fun. Of course we don't leave them all alone. They might get into too much trouble. Auntie Princess Diva has been given the job of watching over them. The first day she looked at us like we had really done something bad. Now she waits at the gate for them and plays King of the Mountain and even teaches them different games. I tried to take pictures but Marval wanted to see what that strange thing I had in my hand. I will be sure and try to take pictures after they get up from their naps and post later. They are such fun to watch I have to make myself stop watching and get back to work!

The moms are very happy. They seem to enjoy having a break from the kids. They gather around and gossip while eating hay and then stretch out in the sunshine and take a nap. They also seem really happy when the kids come home. They sniff them over and then feed them supper. If you are ever in need we have opening at Kiddy Daycare!

ViVi is in Jail

For the past several months ViVi has decided to become a escape artist. She would jump over a 5 foot fence without even touching it. She would go through the electric fence without batting an eye. When we built the new chicken pens we made a extra pen with chickenwire on the outside and goat fence on the inside. This is now ViVi's new home and she ain't happy! She has tried all day to get out without success. ViVi has even got the bright idea to stand by the gate and wait for someone to open it so she can try to knock them down and make a break for it. Good thing I figured out what she was going to do and was ready for her. Besides being in jail she is pregnant so her hormones are crazy making her a very unhappy, mad goat! Hopefully after she kids she will go back to her sweet loving self that is again happy in her pen. At least she can enjoy the warm sunshine and beautiful flowers from her jail cell

Still Here

I am sorry posts are few and far between. William is still home until Wednesday. We have been catching up on all the goats vaccines, etc as well as all the outside chores that needed his help. We have gotten a lot of planning done and I even found time to do some housecleaning. At the end of the day we are so tired and think we got a lot done until we look at our list. It doesn't seem to get much smaller. Today was nice and cold after several days of summer weather and it felt wonderful. Tonight is suppose to be down to 25F so of course I have a nice fire going and enjoying a cuppa hot chocolate. I have lots of Diva and girls stories to share and promise to get to them in the next couple of days. Right now I am going to take a nice hot shower, put on my PJ's and enjoy my rocking chair by the fire. Have a blessed evening and I will see you all tomorrow!

Busy, Busy, Busy

William has been home for a week and we have been knocking things off our to do list. Until today the weather has really been perfect for outside chores. Today its cold and rainy. I get to enjoy having a nice fire in the stove while I do inside chores. Thursday and Friday we worked in our garden. We planted broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and 3 different kinds of onions. Our small hay barn is almost finished. It just needs the tin roof put on and then I can get the hay stacked inside and out of my way. All of our pens for the chickens, ducks, geese, dogs and goats are finished. Its actually starting to look a little less cluttered around here. This morning after chores William and I headed to the flea market and thriftstores. Found a few treasures, then stopped to buy a couple of steaks. William grilled the steaks while I made a salad, garlic cheese bread and baked potatoes. We had our Valentine meal for lunch. Now its time to get some outside chores done before feeding time. Have a wonderful weekend!

Blogger

Well I found a way to solve the problem. I just need to log in from firefox instead of internet explorer. Everything is there on firefox... crazy huh!

Is anyone else having problems with blogging? When I go to post I no longer have the icons across the top of the post box to click on to load a photo or add a link, etc. I am justable to type a title and a post. I check to make sure the settings hadn't been changed and everything is the same. Any ideals?

Pay It Forward

Linda had a blog post about paying it forward. Since it is nice to do some little thing that will brighten some one’s day she took part in the pay it forward.
The first five people to respond to her post would get something from her just for them. The only requirement to participate was you had to make the same offer on your blog.
Since I was one of the first five, I am getting a surprised gift from Linda. I am also offering the same thing to the first five people to respond to this post that say they will pay it forward. I will send those 5 people a gift package with some of Ms. Diva's soap, lotion and body wash. I will email you for your mailing addy and get your package in the mail by March 10th. If you are one of the 5 that want a gift package you must agree to pay it forward by posting on your blog what you will give to the first 5 that agree to pay it forward. If you decide to participate you MUST offer the same on your blog. It will be such fun to receive a package in the mail but I think its even greater fun to pay it forward and put a smile on 5 others! Please join the fun and ‘pay it forward’.

A Bride for Sir Fred

Word spread throughout the kingdom of Hidden Haven that Sir Fred was ready to marry again. His lovely wife Lady Ginger had been gone for 2 years and it was time to move on. Sir Fred ask his friends to put out the word. He was looking for a very special bride and nothing else would do. Word spread beyond the kingdom of Hidden Haven to the land of Boone. Lady Joanna from the kingdom of BooneDocksWilcox told some of her friends about Sir Fred. Soon it was decided to arrange a marriage between Lady Tessa from the Land of Boone and Sir Fred of Hidden Haven. Travel plans were made to go and escort Lady Tessa to her new home. After a long ride Lady Tessa finally arrived at Hidden Haven. Her first meeting with Sir Fred showed him a little shy. Soon Sir Fred was strutting his stuff for his betrothed. He wanted to show her how handsome he was and let her know how beautiful she was to him. Alas Elvis was next door and caught Lady Tessa's eye. She thought Elvis was so handsome and could not tear herself away from him.

This upset Sir Fred so much he told Elvis to go away and made Lady Tessa walk away from Elvis. Sir Fred told Lady Tessa he loved her and wanted to make her life here at Hidden Haven a happy one as his wife. Lady Tessa agreed to marry Sir Fred but told him she would always have a place in her heart for Elvis.

Blog Friend and Teas From Kuma's Mom

Sunday Tracy and I met last year when she came to visit her son at Ft. Bragg. This year she came with her sons mother in law to take the grandkids back to Texas for a couple of weeks. Tracy and family came over Sunday afternoon for a visit. William grilled out hamburgers and hotdogs and Tracy made a awesome banana pudding. We had a nice visit but I hope next time Tracy can come spend a day. I made sure when they left she didn't have Tiny Tina in her purse!
This afternoon I opened the mailbox to see a package. I wasn't expecting anything so was surprised to see Kuma's mom had sent me teas and a beautiful tea cup and saucer. She and her family read my blog and found out I am a tea addict. Teas from all over Europe and the tea set is from France! Aren't I the lucky one! I am so looking forward to tonight so I can sit in the rocker by the fire and have a nice cuppa tea. My only problem is which to try first. I think I will try the Goodnight Herb Tea from Denmark. Thank you so much Debi for the wonderful tea package! I am so in heaven right now. I gave Kuma a hug and kiss from you. She and Lady are buddies. They pal around the pen together giving Tramp and Sheba a little attention now and then but enjoy playing with each other or napping side by side.
Tomorrow evening I hope to post a picture of a female we are bringing home for a arranged marriage here on the homestead...... stay tuned!

Saturday Visitors

Saturday my stepson Ray, his wife Sharon, their sons Josh and Wayne came for a visit. Actually they purchased our camper and came to pick it up. Sharon and I hit some thriftstores and flea market while Ray and the boys put good tires on the camper to move it. They hadn't been down in months so of course they had to do the tour and see all the new animals. Here is Sharon's day with the camera.Such a big size difference in CC and Tina!
Of they all fell in love with Tiny Tina. It was a nice visit and hopefully they won't wait so long to come back. On Sunday I had a blogger visit with her family. Will post that later
